Welcome to the Merrimac PTO website!

The PTO is a group of parent, staff and community volunteers who organize fundraisers and sponsor school events to benefit the students at Sweetsir and Donaghue schools.  Our goals are to encourage interactions between family and school and work with teachers, staff and the community at large to improve our children’s educational experience.

Exciting Upcoming Events

The Merrimac PTO is pleased to continue BOKS, a before school physical activity program, at the Merrimac Schools this spring. 

Days/Time: 7:15AM-8:15AM, Wednesday & Friday starting February 5th and running through March 13th. Classes will occur on February 5th, 7th, 12th, 14th, 26th, 28th and March 4th, 6th, 11th, and 13th. Note: There will be no class the week of February vacation.

Typical BOKS Class:

  • 50 minutes long
  • Fun warm-up game or movement drills
  • Running activity, relay races, obstacle courses and strength movements
  • Fun games
  • Cool down and a BOKS Bit- a nutrition component of the program

How do I sign up?

NOTE: If the participant has already attended BOKS fall 2019 session you do not need to complete a new registration form unless the information has changed.

Cost:

There is a $20/child fee that can be paid at Eventbrite: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/boks-session-spring-2020-tickets-92393430237. Children who attend the before school program on Wednesdays or Fridays as part of their regular schedule are able to enroll and participate for no charge. (Please choose “child enrolled in BASP ticket” at purchase. All no charge tickets purchased will be confirmed with the before school program for eligibility.)

Is there transportation for BOKS?

Parents will be responsible for transporting their children to the Donaghue school where the program will take place. Children will take Bus #6 to the Sweetsir school, which transports the Before School participants.

Featuring Merrimac Elementary Art Teacher; Drew Dupre as instructor for the evening. Join us for a fun evening of painting with family and friends, all materials as well as snacks and water are included in the ticket price.  You will leave with a finished masterpiece at the end of the evening.

When: Thursday, March 26th.  Doors will open at 5pm, with painting beginning at 5:30pm.  Event ends at 7:30pm.

Where: Sweetsir School Cafeteria

Tickets: $15 will go on sale on March 14th at 9am online only. Space is limited. Tickets can be purchased at:

Important: This is not a drop off event.  All children must be accompanied by an adult to participate.  The recommended age for the event is 6 and older.  Parents that would like to attend but not participate in painting are welcome to attend with their child without purchasing a ticket.
